our approach
We combine the authentic empathy of peer-led support with a rigorous, evidence-based psychological framework of group delivery and peer-led activity, designed to foster long-term, sustainable transformation. Our approach is positioned securely within the community setting while sitting alongside, but operating independently of, the more clinically orientated, larger services providers.
Traditional addiction services can often rely on a single, more rigid pathway through and when existing structured treatment, which may fail to help service users adapt to what can be a fluid and chaotic reality of early recovery. Gyre Collective CIC addresses this systemic gap, which can lead to recovery stagnation or relapse post structured treatment, by deploying an integrated ecosystem that harmonises three distinct clinical approaches, ensuring that one framework’s limitation is another’s core strength:
i) Humanistic Foundation
We establish radical empathy, safety and non-judgemental containment to break through isolation and engage with individuals, including those hardest to reach.
ii) CBT Stabilisation
We provide immediate crisis intervention tools, empowering clients to identify triggers, manage acute cravings and achieve early physical and psychological stabilisation.
iii) ACT Transformation
We shift our peers’ core identity away from the stigma of addiction, cultivating psychological flexibility and a long-term recovery-focused identity. Abstinence alone creates a vacuum. ACT helps individuals to stop fighting their historic pain and current unwanted thoughts and feelings (Acceptance), separate their core self from the label of ‘addict’ (Defusion) and build a rich, meaningful life based on what they deeply care about (Committed Action).
